It’s easy to get sucked down into the YouTube rabbit hole. A recent obsession has been to watch the myriad of police officer bodycam footage videos.
Many are heartbreaking, terrifying, and brutal. Police officers never know what they are walking into. For every corrupt cop out there, I believe they are outliers and outnumbered by thousands of decent, law-abiding ones who wish to help people and keep them safe.
That’s where Sgt. Padrta comes in. He’s somewhat of a YouTube star because of how he handles himself around people going through the lowest moments of their lives in Pullman, Wash., people who may not necessarily be bad but make poor choices, and genuinely awful criminals who deserve what they get.
Then there are the hapless criminals who are terrible liars and who police can see through from a mile away. The way Padrta deals with some of these folks is downright hilarious. He never puts them down in a cruel way. He treats them with dignity, but he also doesn’t stand for BS. When a suspect is spinning blatant nonsense, Padrta can be counted on for wry observations and quick one-liners that expose the absurdity.
He also acts firm and authoritative, the way you would expect a police officer to behave when he or she needs to maintain order.
So, with all that being said, if you have some time on your hands, watch the video above. It’s entertaining and gives you an idea of how police officers handle some of the less serious cases that come across their desks.
